IARU Region 1 reports that the North Korean embassy in Tripoli is again using 14.328430MHz
The IARU Region 1 reports that the North Korean embassy in Tripoli is again using 14.328430MHz for traffic with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pyongyang. You may hear an ARQ burst system "DPRK-FSK600" at 600 Baud, 600Hz shift, operating on two different frequencies at about 1630UTC daily. One frequency is in the amateur radio band, the other one out of it. Slightly better news now as the Codar HF Radar from Naples on the 24MHz band disappeared after a complaint from IK8OZZ. A few days later another Codar system was found on 24.850 to 24.950kHz. Bearings taken by the German PTT indicated the source was on Pag Island, Croatia. The German PTT filed an official complaint to the Croatian PTT.

RSGB Convention in October, Jim Bacon, G3YLA will present a talk entitled
At the RSGB Convention in October, Jim Bacon, G3YLA will present a talk entitled: 'Always take the weather with you'. Jim will be known to many as one of the team of BBC weather men. He will present an update to his series of articles on Sporadic-E published in RadCom some years ago. He will discuss some weather science and will explain how the collection of myths and facts have been applied already to this year's Sporadic-E openings, with some startling results. Observations will continue throughout the year and it may be that he will be able to show that understanding Sporadic-E may not be so difficult to explain, but may still be difficult to forecast. He hopes that the talk will enable amateurs to use weather data to test the possible Sporadic-E links next season. Initial results also seem to show that the same explanation works for the USA as well. Bookings for the Convention on the 9th to 11th October can be made online at www.rsgbevents.org.
